Question:
When you use the FUT method are you cutting grafts that mimic natural follicular units or are you actually dissecting the hairs as follicular units?

Answer:
A follicular unit transplantation (FUT) is the method where a strip of donor tissue is removed and the donor wound is closed using a suturing and/or stapling technique. The strip that is removed from the donor area is then dissected in a several step process using microscopes and other forms of high-powered magnification.

Follicular unit transplant is the process of taking the strip and dissecting that strip of tissue into individual follicular unit grafts. At that point, recipient sites are made and the follicular unit grafts are placed into the area where the patient is needing and/or wanting the hair transplant.
