Question:
What percentage of transplanted hairs actually take after hair transplantation procedures? Is this something that varies from doctor to doctor?

Answer:
The percentage of successful hair transplants during hair restoration surgery varies amongst patients and/or physicians.

The patient’s health prior to surgery, the way they follow the post-operative instruction and just the individual characteristics of the patient themselves play a role in what percentage of hair follicles take following the hair transplantation procedure.

The percentage of hair follicles growing after hair transplantation surgery may also vary depending on the physician, the technique used and experience of the physician.

In most cases, I tell my patients that I would expect between 95% and 98% of the grafts to grow successfully. I think this is a fair and conservative estimate. Patients sometimes may have a higher success rate, but I think it is safe to estimate between 95% and 98%.
