Question:
Is it true that if you look at your mother’s side of the family for your hair loss pattern that is how you will determine whether or not you are going to have hair loss or not?

Answer:
Androgenetic alopecia or genetic hair loss can occur from either side of the family. It can be from the mother’s side or the father’s side and/or some type of combination.

There is a common myth that all hair loss is directly related to the mother’s father and this is not true. Hair loss can come from either side of the family.
