Question:
If you have a second hair transplant will you then have a second scar?

Answer:
No, you do not have to have a second scar when having a second hair transplantation procedure. It is possible to remove the scar that is remaining from the first procedure during the second procedure. That is what I recommend to my patients, and even after three or four procedures, I would prefer my patient have only one scar.

I do recommend to my patients prior to having a second or a third procedure scalp exercises that we give you to help loosen up the scar tissue around the area of the scar to allow a closure that is done with less tension during the second procedure. The more we can reduce the amount of tension during the closure, the more likelihood that the scar will be smaller.
