Question:
I tried topical Rogaine for hair loss and it irritated my scalp. What other options do I have?

Answer:
There is a new Rogaine that comes in a foam form and they have eliminated a few of the ingredients that were thought to have caused most of the scalp irritation, redness, dryness and flakiness.

Most patient that I have who claimed to have had those same symptoms when they used the original Rogaine solution for the scalp now say that since they switched over to the foam those symptoms have resolved.

The other option for patients who would like the benefits of Rogaine, which is a vasodilator and increases circulation to the scalp, is to opt to use hair lasers or low level laser therapy that can accomplish something very similar without having to put anything topically on the scalp.
