Question:
I am 31 years old, female and I have an extremely high, uneven hairline. I would like to bring it down on my forehead about three-quarters of an inch and reshape it. Can you give me an idea of how many grafts that would be and how long the procedure would take?

Answer:
A physician would either need to see photographs and/or the patient in person to determine if a lowering of the hairline would be appropriate in that case. It is possible in females who have a high, uneven hairline to lower the hairline one-half to three-quarters of an inch and reshape it.

The number of grafts needed to perform this really depends on the size of the patient’s forehead, the amount of the area being transplanted, the density of the hair follicles and hair characteristics. It can be anywhere between 1,000 and 2,000 grafts that would be necessary to lower a female hairline as you have described.
